What is Building Your Home “Green”?

Green Homes Marsella Enterprises is a Registered Certifying Agent of the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC). Some building design strategies used to build green homes include efficient designs oriented on your building site that allows for lots of natural daylight and breezes for ventilation, overhangs for shading, and light-colored, and heat-reflecting Energy Star roofing materials.

Green Building Materials

Green building materials are healthy for the owner and healthy for the environment. When building green, Marsella Enterprises uses healthy, non-toxic building materials and furnishings; low-VOC (volatile organic compound) paints and sealants; and wood-based features, like flooring from rapidly renewable sources (example: bamboo)

Insulation

Insulation is one of the easiest and most effective ways to conserve energy. Insulating walls and ceilings with high R-value insulation, using insulated, Energy Star rated windows and doors and properly sealing them are just a few methods utilized when building a well-insulated, energy efficient home.

Energy Efficiency

An estimated 90% of your homes energy is used to heat and cool your home. Energy Star rated appliances, especially HVAC (air conditioning) systems and water heaters can significantly reduce the homes energy consumption. That's why Marsella Enterprises suggests using Energy Star appliances for all homes.
